Introduction to the nursery
« Les Fripouilles » Since 1988.
We provide full-day care for children aged from 12 weeks to 4 years.
Located in the Robertsau district of Strasbourg, the nursery welcomes any child living within the City of Strasbourg. The nursery is situated on the ground floor of a building and features an inner courtyard and a communal garden.
The Les Fripouilles nursery has a capacity of 11 children on a full-time basis, Monday to Friday from 8.00 am to 6.30 pm, with the following closure periods:
Four weeks in the summer, one week at Christmas. The exact closure dates are decided collectively by the general meeting, in agreement with the staff, in September for the coming school year.
The parent-run nursery is a community-based facility where parental involvement is key. This involves, in particular, parents attending for half a day each week to assist the teaching team.
The children are looked after by a team of 5 to 6 people, supervised by 4 experienced and qualified professionals (Early Years Educators, Childcare Assistants).
The team’s aim is to ensure the well-being of every child, to support them in their social development, and to implement educational principles (hygiene, nutrition, establishing rules) in order to prepare them for integration into other communities in the future.
To this end, the team prioritises a family-like, reassuring atmosphere that respects each child’s individual pace, whilst fostering a sense of community.
Meals are prepared on site by a cook using ingredients that are partly sourced from organic farming and can be adapted to suit the children’s dietary requirements.
Nappies, nappy-changing supplies, sheets and sleeping bags are also provided by the nursery.
Frame
The ‘Les Fripouilles’ parent-run nursery is a local association, managed by all the parents.
Each family is an active member of the association and plays a part in running the nursery.
The association is funded by the CAF, the City of Strasbourg and parents’ contributions (set in accordance with the CAF’s scales).
The nursery is a signatory to the early years quality charter, established by the City of Strasbourg and the CAF.
